ABOUT RDF GHANA

WHO WE ARE

RDF Ghana LBG is a company limited by guarantee, duly registered in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Ghana, with registration number CG059662016. RDF was established by DANIDA in 2016 as part of the transition in Denmark-Ghana relations from aid to trade by 2020. The guarantors (members) of RDF  are the Government of Ghana represented by the Ministry of Finance and the Government of Denmark represented by the Danish Investment Fund for Developing Countries.

RDF was established to promote access to finance for Micro, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) engaged in the business of agriculture and/or renewal energy, especially women businesses. RDF provides wholesale funding in the form of Lines of Credit and Credit Guarantees to Financial Intermediaries (“FIs”) to promote lending to the targeted sectors. RDF also provides Technical Assistance both to FIs and RDF’s beneficiaries to promote sustainable business practices through the acquisition of relevant skills needed to maximise the impact of funding RDF provides.

The vision of RDF Ghana LBG is to be a recognised Development Finance Institution dedicated to sustainable rural development in Ghana.

The mission of RDF Ghana LBG is to promote inclusive rural development by providing finance and technical assistance to Agriculture and Renewable Energy value chains.

OUR HISTORY

RDF Ghana LBG was birthed out of DANIDA’s desire to institutionalise a development finance organisation that will outlive Denmark’s transition from aid to trade in Ghana by 2020.

Over the years, DANIDA has supported access to finance and capacity development of Rural & Community Banks (RCBs), including the provision of wholesale funds as well as provision of loan guarantees through Universal Banks and Savings & Loans Companies. The seed money for the RDF was an amalgamation of all the revolving funds from DANIDA’s past engagements in the access to finance space within the private sector.
